Exposure Notifications at the Crossroads of Technology + Public Health
CA Notify: One-Year Later

Thursday, November 4, 2021 | 11:30 AM PT – 2:00 PM PT

Join us for a conversation with scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and public health experts to discuss lessons learned from California over the past year and the future possibilities for deploying exposure notification systems to meet public health challenges.

One year ago, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) partnered with UC San Diego Health, Google, Apple, and the California Department of Technology (CDT) to build CA Notify —a smartphone-based exposure notification (EN) system—to help mitigate COVID-19 spread in California.

Given the novelty of the technology, CA Notify’s public health utility and impact were originally unclear; however, building evidence suggests that the technology offers the public an additional layer of protection from COVID-19 via a rapid, private, and scalable exposure notification process.
